Rishabh Pant created history during India’s second innings of the Edgbaston Test by setting a new benchmark for hitting the most sixes by a batter in a single away country in Test cricket history. Pant has now hit 24 sixes in England, surpassing Ben Stokes’ previous record of 21 sixes in South Africa.

Continuing his excellent form from the first Test, where he scored two centuries, Pant played a fearless knock once again. He smashed 65 runs off 58 balls, including eight fours and three sixes, during India’s second innings. His intent was clear from the start—take the attack to the English bowlers and not let them settle.

Pant batted with a strike rate of 112.07, maintaining pressure on England’s bowlers. However, his stay ended when he fell once again to Shoaib Bashir, with Ben Duckett taking a comfortable catch.

Pant’s latest achievement puts him at the top of the list for most sixes hit by a batter in a single away country in Tests:

Rishabh Pant – 24 sixes in England
Ben Stokes – 21 sixes in South Africa
Matthew Hayden – 19 sixes in India
Viv Richards – 16 sixes in England
Harry Brook – 16 sixes in New Zealand

Even though India lost early wickets, including KL Rahul and Karun Nair, Pant’s aggressive knock ensured the visitors maintained a firm grip on the match.

By Tea on Day Four, India reached 304/4, with Shubman Gill unbeaten on 100 and Ravindra Jadeja not out on 25, stretching India’s lead to a mammoth 484 runs.
