Ravindra Jadeja’s valiant effort with the bat on Day Five of the Lord’s Test wasn’t enough to take India over the line, as the visitors fell short by 22 runs in a thrilling finish. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 61, fighting till the very end, but England held their nerve to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

After the loss, former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja, speaking on Sony Sports Network, reflected on the emotional toll of the defeat and backed the Indian team to bounce back from this heartbreak.

“It’s tough to think along those lines while you’re in the dressing room. When you play and come so close, you cannot be thinking of it. There will be disappointment, and no one is more disappointed than him,” Jadeja said.

India were chasing 193 runs, and despite a fighting partnership between Jadeja and KL Rahul, wickets kept falling at crucial stages. Jadeja held one end firmly, but still, it was not enough to carry India home.

Ajay Jadeja also noted that defeats like these are difficult to process because of the immense amount of effort and planning that goes into preparing for such tours.

“It’s impossible. They have worked their whole lives for it, prepared for this tour, had their strategies, and then when you come this close and lose, it’s not easy to take in,” he added. “No matter how much you console them, it’s unimaginable. But they have shown us already how to win from such adversities. Real teams are those that emerge strong from setbacks.”
