Adrian Le Roux, one of the most respected names in sports science, has now been appointed as the new strength and conditioning coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. This marks his second stint with Team India, having previously worked in the same role from January 2002 to May 2003. He returns after Soham Desai’s recent departure from the position.

Le Roux’s appointment comes after a successful campaign with Punjab Kings in IPL 2025, where he served for six years. In IPL 2025, Punjab finished as runners-up, missing the title by only six runs. Remembering his journey, Le Roux took to Instagram to share an emotional farewell.

“What a journey it’s been”: Le Roux bids farewell to Punjab Kings

Le Roux reflected on his time with the franchise and said: “And with that a 6-year journey with the @punjabkingsipl comes to an end. Went all the way to the final this season…In the fast-moving world of professional sport it’s easy to get caught up in the results.”

He mentioned his new role in the same post, writing: “But every now and then you pause and realise that while it’s about performance and pressure it’s also about people, shared moments and friendships that will last a lifetime. As I step into a new role with @indiancricketteam I’ll carry these memories with me.”

Le Roux’s first assignment with India will be the upcoming five-match Test series in England, which starts on June 20. This tour will also be Shubman Gill’s first as a full-time Test captain and marks the beginning of India’s new World Test Championship cycle.
