A light-hearted video featuring Indian pacers Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep playfully wrestling with bowling coach Morne Morkel during a net session has recently gone viral on social media. The moment was captured ahead of the second Test against England at Edgbaston.
Both Arshdeep and Akash Deep were not part of the playing XI that lost the first Test at Headingley by five wickets. Despite being on the bench, the duo played a key role in lifting the team’s morale with some playful energy in the camp.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) posted the clip online, and it quickly gained traction, drawing smiles from fans across the globe. Later, Arshdeep shared the story behind the amusing video.
“Morne ne bola tha ki jaise hi tumhara session khatam ho jaaye, to main hamesha last move karunga, main tumhe pin out karunga aur uske baad koi practice nahi hogi,” Arshdeep said, explaining how Morkel had joked about wrapping up the day’s session with a mock wrestling move.
“Usne koi naya tareeka dhoonda hai din call off karne ka, aaj woh wahi karke dikha raha tha,” he added with a smile.
The light moment offered a brief break from the pressure of the ongoing five-match Test series, where India is currently trailing 0–1. England pulled off a stunning chase of 371 runs on the final day of the first Test at Headingley to take the lead.
Meanwhile, it is expected that he will play only three of the five Tests. However, former cricketer Farokh Engineer has expressed hope that Bumrah can feature in more matches, even as speculation grows over his availability for the second Test starting July 2.
