
In a recent video published by the BCCI, young batter Sai Sudharsan was seen having a heartwarming conversation with all-rounder Washington Sundar. During the chat, Sai shared that he has taken inspiration from Sundar, who made his debut for India at a very young age. In return, Sundar praised Sai’s remarkable growth over the past three to four years.
Sundar also highlighted how Sai has become a source of inspiration for many young cricketers, especially those from Chennai. The candid interaction between the two went viral on social media and took place ahead of the upcoming five-match Test series between India and England. Both players are part of the Indian squad currently preparing for the high-stakes tour in England.
Washington Sundar has already played nine Tests for India
Washington Sundar made his international debut for India in 2017 at the age of 18, initially playing ODIs and T20Is. His Test debut came in 2021 during the famous series against Australia, where he impressed with both bat and ball. So far, he has played nine Test matches, scoring 468 runs at an average of 42.54, including four fifties and a highest score of 96 not out. With the ball, he has taken 25 wickets, including one five-wicket haul.
In ODIs, Sundar has featured in 23 matches, scoring 329 runs at an average of 23.50, with a top score of 51, and has also taken 24 wickets. In T20Is, he has played 54 matches, scoring 193 runs at an average of 13.78 with a highest score of 50, and has picked up 48 wickets.
Sai Sudharsan, on the other hand, made his India debut at the age of 22 in an ODI against South Africa. He has played three ODIs so far, scoring 127 runs, including two half-centuries, with a best of 62.
