The India U-19 team wrapped up their five-match Youth ODI series with a 3–2 victory, despite suffering a seven-wicket defeat in the final game against England U-19 on Monday, 7 July 2025.

Opting to bat first in the fifth Youth ODI, India posted a modest total of 210 for 9 in 50 overs. However, the hosts chased down the target comfortably, winning with seven wickets in hand and 113 balls to spare.

Despite the loss, India emerged victorious in the overall series. England’s Alex French finished as the highest wicket-taker of the series, taking eight wickets in three matches at an economy rate of 5.92. On the batting front, India’s rising star Vaibhav Suryavanshi topped the run charts, amassing 355 runs in five innings at an average of 71.00 and a blistering strike rate of 174.01. His tally included 30 boundaries and 29 sixes.

India’s batting lineup faltered in the final game against England’s disciplined seam attack. Alex French and Matt Firbank struck early blows, removing Ayush Mhatre (1 off 8) and Vihaan Malhotra (1 off 2). Sebastian Morgan then dismissed Suryavanshi, who had scored 33 off 42 balls.

Spinner Ralphine Albert added pressure by picking up the wickets of Harvansh Pangalia (24 off 37) and Kanishk Chouhan (24 off 45). RS Ambrish provided some resistance and remained unbeaten on 66 off 81 balls.

Ben Mayes Shines in the Chase

In reply, England lost Joseph Moores for just 5 runs early on. However, a crucial 107-run partnership between Ben Dawkins (66 off 53) and Ben Mayes set up the chase perfectly. Player of the Match Mayes stayed unbeaten on 82 off 76 balls, while Thomas Rew supported him with an unbeaten 49 off 37. Together, they added an unbroken 90 runs for the fourth wicket to guide England to a convincing win.
