Zimbabwe has made a latest change to their squad for the upcoming one-off Test against England, which is set to begin on May 22 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Fast bowler Trevor Gwandu has been ruled out of the match due to a left groin strain, which led to the inclusion of Tanaka Chivanga as his replacement.

Gwandu had taken three wickets in his last Test appearance against Ireland, but he did not feature in Zimbabwe’s recent home or away series against Bangladesh. His injury came as a setback for Zimbabwe as they are set to play their first Test match in England in over 20 years. The last time Zimbabwe played a Test on English ground was back in 2003, which was a memorable series that witnessed the debut of England’s pace legend James Anderson.

This one-off, four-day Test holds significant historical value for Zimbabwe

The 31-year-old Chivanga returned to the national squad after recovering from an injury sustained during his second Test match, against Ireland in Belfast last year. He made his Test debut against the West Indies in February 2023.

This one-off, four-day Test holds significant historical value for Zimbabwe, marking their return to the English Test arena after two decades and offering a chance to showcase their growing cricketing depth on international stages.
