The England-Scotland T20 World Cup game in Barbados was abandoned due to persistent rain, with both teams picking up a point each. Scotland finished with 90 for 0 in their allotted 10 overs, but after the completion of their innings, the heavens once more opened up and the match was called off.

The start of the match was delayed as a result of the rain and wet outfield. When play commenced, Scotland made a steady start versus the pace pair of Mark Wood and Jofra Archer. Both bowled with a good burst of pace. The speed duet might have even fetched a wicket each, but a top-edge off Archer’s bowling fell in no-man’s land. Wood dismissed George Munsey, only to find out that he had overstepped.

For Scotland, Michael Jones looked in fine touch, essaying punches, drives and lofts. On the other hand, Munsey was adept at bringing out the sweep shot. After six overs, there was one more rain break. Eventually, at 14.06 local time, the players made their way back to the middle. By then, the game had been reduced to a 10-over-a-side contest.

Scotland added a further 41 runs in the last four overs. One of the highlights at the back-end of the innings was how Adil Rashid in the last over watched the feet of the openers until he released the ball in order to adjust his length. He gave away only eight runs in that over. Scotland would be quite pleased with their effort. England, however, would be disappointed as they were expected to collect two points from this game.
