The Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) witnessed an absolute masterclass from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli as the legendary duo played their last game on Australian soil, with India winning the third ODI by nine wickets. Iconic Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who has had numerous on-field battles with Rohit and Kohli, praised the duo for being the best competitors he has played with as they signed off from Australia on a high.

Rohit registered his 33rd ODI century while Kohli became the second-highest run-scorer in ODI history, surpassing Kumar Sangakkara on the list. Only Sachin Tendulkar remains ahead of Kohli.

“Virat’s been one of the best competitors I’ve ever played with. Same for Rohit,” Lyon told Revsportz. “Their skill sets are second to none.”

After registering consecutive ducks, Kohli was back among the runs to register his 126th score over 50 in ODIs. “The best in the world to ever do it,” Lyon said of Kohli. “It’s been a pleasure to play against him, that’s for sure.”

Though Australia won the three-match ODI series 2-1, Rohit and Kohli finishing the series on a high uplifted the mood of the entire nation. The entire SCG cheered every run that Ro-Ko scored on Saturday, and the noise was deafening when Rohit completed his ton; the same was the case when Kohli completed his 50.

A total crowd of 40,580 witnessed the last of Kohli and Rohit on Australian soil, whereas the total attendance of 121,443 was record-breaking for an ODI series in Australia.
