
Chelsea have booked their place in the Round of 16 of the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup 2025 after defeating Esperance Tunis 3-0 in their final Group D clash. Among the standout performers was 19-year-old winger Tyrique George, who impressed with a composed finish, firing a low drive into the net to score his side’s third goal.
With this win, Chelsea secured second place in the group with six points, behind Flamengo. The Blues will now face Benfica, the Group C toppers, in the Round of 16 on 29 June. All eyes will be on whether George will get more opportunities to shine on the big stage in the upcoming knockout clash.

Who is Tyrique George?
Tyrique George is a skilful and exciting young talent. He joined Chelsea’s academy as an Under-8, having come through the club’s development centre. Naturally a left winger, George can also operate as an attacking midfielder, offering versatility in the final third.
He made his debut for Chelsea’s men’s first team early in the 2024/25 season. By mid-season, he had moved up from the Academy to become a full-time member of the senior squad.
George made his senior debut in a UEFA Conference League play-off match, coming on in the second half against Servette in Switzerland. Around the same time, he also featured for England’s Under-19 side.
His first start for Chelsea came in a Conference League match against Noah. In December 2024, the club confirmed that George had officially become a full-time member of the first-team squad.
In January 2025, he registered his first assist in an FA Cup match against Morecambe, followed by his first Premier League assist in February.
He scored his first goal for Chelsea’s senior team in April 2025, during a 3-0 win away to Legia Warsaw in the UEFA Conference League quarter-final first leg, where he netted the opening goal.
