UP Warriorz have announced the retention of most of their squad for the third Women’s Premier League (WPL) season in 2025. With 15 of their 18 players from last season retained, the franchise aims to build on its current foundation and strive for new achievements together in the coming years.

Alyssa Healy, who led the team in the first two seasons, continues as a key part of the squad, along with Deepti Sharma, last season’s Most Valuable Player. The team’s core includes a strong mix of experienced international players and promising Indian talent, including Tahlia McGrath, Chamari Athapaththu, Sophie Ecclestone, Grace Harris, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Anjali Sarvani, and Shweta Sehrawat.

In a recent trade, England batter Danni Wyatt moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore, while Parshavi Chopra, Yashasri S., and Laxmi Yadav are set to re-enter the auction pool. This continuity highlights the Warriorz’s approach to strengthen their team’s cohesion and build on their potential from past seasons, focusing on creating a tight-knit unit to pursue success in WPL 2025.

Reflecting on team flexibility, head coach Jon Lewis emphasized the value of versatility, particularly in the fast-paced format of the WPL. “What you will see with the group of young Indian players and core batters we have, is that there will be flexibility. They will have to be flexible when they choose to step into international cricket, and this will be a good grounding for them in teaching them different roles and developing different roles within their game. Their ability can open lots of different avenues for them moving forward. So, I think having flexibility and adaptability as a player to play in multiple different spots is really important.”
