Wicket-keeper-batter KL Rahul noted that many of the Indian players are excited about playing the World Cup on home soil. “It’s my first World Cup at home. For a lot of us, it’s our first World Cup at home,” Rahul told Jio Cinema.
“Hope it’s going to be exciting. Expectations are going through the roof, but it’s always like that with the Indian team. Fingers-crossed that we go out there and put on a good performance for the crowds that come in and the people of our country and give something that will make people proud,” he added.
Rahul, who was a part of the 2019 World Cup squad, has since become a crucial player in the ODI team. He has been in excellent form after recovering from a lengthy injury, which he suffered while fielding in the IPL 2023.
His return to Team India during the Asia Cup 2023 was remarkable, with Rahul scoring an unbeaten 111 in his comeback game against Pakistan. In the first ODI of the ongoing three match series against Australia in Mohali, Rahul led the team to a five-wicket victory.
