As we complete four years, it is essential that we have plans in place for years five and six. 2026 is a massive year for sport, and our endeavour will be to break new ground with our coverage. As always, our quest will be to give our reporters maximum on-ground exposure and opportunity. By doing so, we will ensure that as much sport as possible is covered from the venue, and that our athletes are given maximum visibility.
The truth is, every sport in India except senior men’s cricket needs support. Men’s cricket has an established base and the space is full of clutter. Even the women’s game, despite the World Cup win, needs backing. It will be interesting to see how many travel to Vizag and Trivandrum at the end of the year to cover the India-Sri Lanka women’s series. Also, the U-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia is expected to unearth new talent – that’s where we will see the stars of tomorrow. It is essential that we send reporters to these destinations.
For aspiring sports journalists, this is a significant opportunity. For Olympic and Paralympic athletes, it is necessary exposure. This is the synergy we need to build – narrating the stories that will make people sit up and take notice. Come forward and support sport. As Mukesh Ambani said, “Inspire the youth.”
I am delighted to share that the 2026 edition of the Trailblazers Conclave will be held from March 14–17 in Kolkata. It is scheduled a week after the T20 World Cup and a week before the start of the IPL. We will have a galaxy of sports stars in Kolkata at the conclave to talk about Indian men’s and women’s cricket, the FIFA World Cup, CWG, Asian Games, Hockey World Cup, Badminton World Championships, and more. Suffice it to say, it will be India’s biggest sports conclave.
Here are some of the events we will cover on ground:
- U-19 Asia Cup – Dubai
- India Women’s series against Sri Lanka – December 2025
- U-19 World Cup – Zimbabwe/Namibia
- T20 World Cup – India
- India Women’s tour to the UK – May–June
- ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, England – June–July
- India Men’s tour to the UK – July
- India Men’s tour to New Zealand
- FIFA World Cup – USA/Mexico
- Commonwealth Games – Glasgow
- Badminton World Championships – Delhi
- Hockey World Cup – Belgium
- Asian Games – Japan
- Para Asian Games – Japan
- Chess/football/athletics events, including the Doha Diamond League
More events will be added to this list, and we will also increase programming from our studio in the second half of next year.
In conclusion, may I say that it still feels a tad unreal that we have already completed four years. It seems like only yesterday when it all started with a team of five. Now, with a team of more than 50, the quest continues. Do read and watch us, and engage with our work. The effort is real, and the pursuit of excellence will be relentless.
