It took 18 seasons for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to lift their first IPL trophy this season. But what made it more special was Virat Kohli’s loyalty and dedication towards the franchise for 18 years. Not just him, but the team as a whole had been waiting for this moment. Even the new additions this season, including Phil Salt, Suyash Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and others, got to live this day.
What was more promising was the bond shared between Kohli and Salt throughout the season. The two shared a special moment after the match with a heartfelt hug. Not just on the ground, but Kohli took it to social media too. In his Instagram story, Kohli posted a picture of the two posing together with the trophy in the locker room. Mentioning Salt, he gave a caption that read, “Well done partner. Now go back to the real stuff and get ready for changing diapers❤️❤️.”

Phil Salt has now won two back-to-back IPL titles
Before the final, reports suggested that Salt might not be available for the match as he might have returned home for his newborn child. But the England international showed his commitment to the franchise, came back early morning, and played the final as well. He also had a start but failed to convert it into a big one.
His partnership alongside Kohli this season has given RCB several good starts in the powerplay. Last year with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and this year with RCB, Salt is living this champion feeling for the second consecutive time.
