Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Gujarat Titans (GT) by 20 runs in the Eliminator of IPL 2025, played at the Mullanpur Stadium in Chandigarh.

Here are the top three highlights from today’s GT vs MI Eliminator clash in IPL 2025:

MI’s Bowling

GT lost their captain, Shubman Gill, who has scored the bulk of their runs this season, along with Sai Sudharsan, very early in the innings. MI picked up wickets at crucial junctures of the match. When Sudharsan and Kusal Mendis were looking good, Mendis unfortunately got out hit-wicket. Sudharsan and Washington Sundar were threatening to take the match away from MI, but their premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah brought them back into the game by dismissing Sundar at the right time. Then Richard Gleeson dismissed Sudharsan, which was the final nail in the coffin for GT. Bumrah and Trent Boult then bowled excellent death overs to seal the match for MI.

Rohit’s Match-Winning Knock

Rohit Sharma once again proved himself on the big stage. He not only anchored the MI innings but also played a match-winning knock of 81 runs off 50 balls at a strike rate of 162.00, which included nine fours and four sixes. He gave MI a blazing start along with Jonny Bairstow, putting on an 84-run opening stand. He then stitched excellent partnerships of 59 runs with Suryakumar Yadav and 43 runs with Tilak Varma, helping MI post a big total of 228/5.

Missed Opportunities for GT

GT gave two early lifelines to Rohit Sharma in the first two overs of the game. Later, Kusal Mendis dropped a crucial catch of Suryakumar Yadav when he was batting on 26, on the fourth ball of the 12th over. Missing these chances at key moments of the match cost GT heavily in the end.
