Sai Sudharsan continued his great form in this season of the IPL and played a gem of an innings against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator today, May 30, in Chandigarh. After MI posted a huge target of 229 for GT to chase, Sai and Shubman Gill opened the innings for GT. Though GT lost their captain very early in the innings, Sudharsan kept GT in the hunt as long as he was at the crease.
He stitched a great partnership with Kusal Mendis for the second wicket, adding 64 runs off just 34 balls. After Mendis’s dismissal, Washington Sundar joined Sudharsan in the middle, and the duo continued to score prolifically. At one point, they looked like favourites to seal the game.
Sai Sudharsan finishes his IPL 2025 campaign with 759 runs
Sudharsan and Sundar kept up with the required run rate and never let it climb too high. They added 84 runs off just 44 balls before Sundar was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah with a trademark yorker.
Sudharsan brought up his sixth fifty of this season, in just 28 balls. He went on to score 80 runs off 49 deliveries at a strike rate of 163.27, including 10 fours and a six. He nearly replicated Rohit’s innings for GT, but apart from Sundar, the other batters failed to provide support. As a result, GT fell short and were eliminated from this year’s IPL. Sudharsan hence finishes this IPL 2025 campaign with 759 runs in 15 games, at an average of 54.21 and with a strike rate of 156.17, including six fifties and one century.
