Rashid Khan was struggling badly after just one wicket in the season opener of Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS). In the last three games, he conceded 95 runs without a single wicket. Concerns were raised among fans ahead of today’s GT vs RR clash regarding the off-form of this proven, top-quality, and experienced bowler.
But, today, he registered two wickets for 37 runs in his four overs and played a part in his team’s win in Ahmedabad. He got the wicket of Dhruv Jurel, who scored five runs off four balls and could take the game away from any team. Rashid also got rid of Shubham Dubey, who scored one run off three balls.

Rashid, who has been GT’s main spinner since 2022, is looking totally out of touch this season, as he had picked up only one wicket and conceded runs at 10.21 runs per over before today’s match. In the 2024 season, Rashid was returning from back surgery but still managed to get 10 wickets at an economy of 8.40. However, today’s performance from Rashid will give GT’s team management some confidence in their upcoming fixtures. Rashid also had a good outing with the bat, scoring 12 runs off just four balls, including one four and one six, with a strike rate of 300.

GT beat RR by an emphatic margin of 58 runs, thanks to a brilliant innings from Sai Sudharsan, who scored 82 off 53, while Jos Buttler and Shahrukh Khan also chipped in with 36 each. In bowling, Prasidh Krishna was the star with three wickets, while Rashid and R Sai Kishore also contributed with two wickets each.
