Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Prasidh Krishna has once again become the new Purple Cap holder in IPL 2025 after a brilliant performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium. GT won the match convincingly by 38 runs after posting a massive total of 224/6 in their 20 overs. Today’s win helped GT move to the second spot on the IPL points table with 14 points after 10 matches, taking them one step closer to qualification.
Prasidh Krishna played a key role in GT’s win, finishing with outstanding figures of two wickets for just 19 runs from four overs. His spell had great pace and accuracy, helping him maintain a superb economy rate of 4.75. He dismissed two big hitters, Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen, which broke the back of SRH’s batting line-up and helped GT stay in control throughout the innings.
“Purple cap doesn’t feel any different.” – Prasidh Krishna
After this performance, Prasidh Krishna is leading the race for the Purple Cap with 19 wickets in 10 games. He was also named the Player of the Match, and while speaking during the post-match presentation, he said: “Purple cap doesn’t feel any different. Winning was key. We’ve had two long breaks. Getting a win at home was important.”
“My control over length has been good. Lots of support from the team to get where I am now. (Pre-match work and conditions assessment) Prep would start with controlling what I can in the nets. Do what I’d do during the game. On game day, you watch every ball of the first innings if you’re bowling second. Take all that you can. Then have chats with the experienced players around, then hit the right areas and take it from there. I have a red ball in my room, playing around with it. Didn’t get it to the ground. Looking to take this tournament first and then look at what’s coming later,” Prasidh concluded.
