The Gujarat Cricket Association is set to launch its own T20 league in the 2025–26 season, joining several other state associations in establishing domestic franchise competitions.

Gujarat Cricket Association secretary Anil Patel confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. However, they are yet to finalise the format, participating teams, player pool, and other operational details.

Several state associations are already hosting their own T20 leagues, and the Gujarat Cricket Association is planning to follow suit.

Domestic T20 leagues are being held across the country and have opened up new avenues for IPL franchises, particularly in terms of talent scouting and grassroots development. At present, state-run leagues are active in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Madhya Pradesh. Leagues in West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, and Saurashtra serve as platforms for local players to enhance their skills and gain visibility.

Most of these leagues are held in June and July, typically following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.

The current generation of viewers is increasingly drawn to the fast-paced nature of T20 cricket. With Gujarat now set to join the list, India’s domestic cricket continues to expand its reach through regional leagues.

These tournaments provide emerging players from each state the opportunity to showcase their skills alongside more established cricketers.
