Hardik Pandya will miss the ODI series in Australia, but he will be available for the T20Is that follow, RevSportz understands.

Pandya, one of India’s biggest match-winners in white-ball cricket, suffered a niggle during his team’s Asia Cup Super-4 fixture against Sri Lanka and missed the final against Pakistan. Shivam Dube more than made up for his absence in the summit clash, sharing the new ball with Jasprit Bumrah and then playing a match-winning hand, in association with Tilak Varma, under pressure. But in the shorter formats, Pandya is one of the first names on the team sheet.

India’s next white-ball assignment is a three-match ODI series in Australia on October 19, 23 and 25 in Perth, Adelaide and Sydney respectively. A five-match T20I series that comes on its heels would be played in Canberra, Melbourne, Hobart, Gold Coast and Brisbane from October 29 to November 8. Given that the T20 World Cup is less than six months away, the series between the two giants is going to be important. Pandya’s availability is good news for India.

The BCCI’s medical team is expected to submit a report on Pandya’s injury to the team management soon.
