Kagiso Rabada, the South African pacer, believes that participating in the IPL will provide the Proteas with an advantage as they prepare for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India. Rabada was among several South African players who featured in the IPL 2023 season.
While his ODI record in India consists of a limited number of matches, Rabada has performed creditably with 13 wickets at an average of 25.85 and an economy rate of 5.18 in seven matches. Rabada’s experience in Indian conditions and his success in previous matches there provide him with confidence heading into the World Cup.
“Playing in India is really tough as a fast bowler on some of those wickets,” said Rabada, who has played 89 ODIs in his career so far. “I guess the challenge now is to know (and understand) the basic information that a newbie wouldn’t know. You are always learning and always looking to be as effective as you can be on different wickets.
“Heading into the World Cup in India, I do think that we have an advantage because we have played in the IPL for so many years. We have played at most of the grounds, if not all, so we understand those conditions.”
