Leeds, UK – UYARE, the city’s finest rooftop South Indian restaurant and bar, had the absolute honour of hosting none other than international film icon Mads Mikkelsen this weekend. The acclaimed actor, known for his roles in Hannibal, Casino Royale, and Another Round, visited UYARE alongside Lee Smith, the Oscar-winning editor turned director, and renowned film producer Pascal Degove to discuss their upcoming project, Sirus – a gripping new thriller set to take the international cinema scene by storm.
While the film world eagerly awaits more details on Sirus, the UYARE team was busy making sure Mads and his crew had a feast worthy of the big screen. The evening began with a spread of bold and fiery South Indian starters – Masala Fried Cauliflower, crispy Fried Fish, and the ever-popular Kanthari Chicken, a house favourite known for its punchy green chilli marinade.
For mains, Mads tucked into a rustic and flavour-packed combination of Pothu Koonu Masala (a rich buffalo curry), Kunjaadu Curry (Kerala-style spiced lamb), and Chemmeen Roast (a fiery king prawn preparation), all beautifully paired with flaky Kerala Parathas and the subtly sweet Carrot Coconut Rice. He washed it all down with a classic Cobra Beer, rounding off what he later described as “a truly unforgettable culinary experience”.

In a heartwarming end to the night, the actor personally thanked Chef Ajith Kumar and Chef Francis, complimenting the entire kitchen brigade before taking selfies with the thrilled team.
UYARE’s recent buzz has been nothing short of cinematic itself – having welcomed a host of cricket stars during the India vs. England test match in Leeds just days before. But Mads Mikkelsen is undoubtedly one of the biggest global names to grace its rooftop. And yet, as the team proudly shares, UYARE is just as much a restaurant for the people of Leeds as it is for the stars.
“Our staff aren’t new to high-profile guests,” says the team. “After all, our sister restaurant, Tharavadu, has seen the likes of Simon Pegg, Rebel Wilson, Virat Kohli, and the entire Indian Cricket Team over the past 11 years. We’re proud to bring that same hospitality and excellence to UYARE.”
As word spreads fast about its stunning views, elevated South Indian menu, and warm hospitality, UYARE is fast becoming Leeds’ go-to dining destination – for celebrities and everyday food lovers alike.
