How Ishant Sharma developed knuckleball

During the 2018 Australia tour, Ishant Sharma of Delhi Capitals (DC) sought advice from Jasprit Bumrah regarding his bowling. On his part, Bumrah suggested Ishant that he needs to develop a ‘slow seam delivery’.

“I asked Jasprit Bumrah what he thought about my bowling in T20s during the Melbourne Test in 2018. He told me that I have a brilliant length, but I need to develop a slow seam delivery, which would deceive a batter. So thereafter, I worked on delivering the knuckle ball,” said Ishant in the fourth episode of The DC Podcast (Season 3).

The experienced pacer, aged 34 and hailing from Delhi, also discussed the influence of head coach Ricky Ponting in the team’s dressing room. “The Delhi Capitals is home to me. The franchise has shown a lot of trust in me. I have great memories with the Delhi Capitals. Ricky Ponting has always emphasized that you win as a team and you lose as a team and he brings a lot of composure to the team,” he added.
