The Asia Cup 2023 will be held in September, divided into two legs. The first will take place in Pakistan, with four matches scheduled at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium: Pakistan vs Nepal, Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka, Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka vs Bangladesh.
The second leg will consist of nine games played in Sri Lanka, in the towns of Galle and Kandy.
India will not play any matches in Pakistan, while the designated hosts, Pakistan, will have only one game on their turf.
On June 7, RevSportz reported that the Asia Cup Hybrid Model, with Kandy as a potential neutral venue, was expected to be accepted within a week. The administrators from various Asian countries were present in London during the World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and Australia to discuss the future of the Asia Cup. A reliable source close to the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed that they were on the verge of reaching a resolution.
The venue for the Asia Cup has been a topic of debate, as India has not received government clearance to travel to Pakistan. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has expressed its interest in hosting the tournament and was ready to do so if the ACC decided to allocate it to the island nation.
The official announcement by the ACC is expected on Tuesday, June 13.
