India veteran Dinesh Karthik has thrown his hat in the ring for the T20 World Cup selection. The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee is set to convene either on April 26 or 27 to pick the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup.
“At this stage in my life, it would be the greatest feeling to represent India. I’m 100 per cent ready. I’ll do everything I can to be on that flight to the T20 World Cup,” said the RCB wicketkeeper-batter on Saturday, on the eve of the KKR match.
“I have complete faith in the three best people in team management – Ajit Agarkar, Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid – and their decisions. If they consider me, I am 100 percent ready for this challenge, ” he added.
Karthik has been in fine form in the ongoing IPL 2024, having scored 226 runs in 7 games so far at an average of 75.33 and strike rate of 205.45. Notably, Karthik is playing one of the toughest roles in cricket, as a finisher, and yet excelling.
In RCB’s previous game, Karthik smashed a blistering 83 off 35 balls as his side posted 262 runs while chasing a target of 287 against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Earlier, during the match between RCB and MI, Rohit Sharma, the India skipper, was heard playfully teasing Karthik on the stump mic, saying that the T20 World Cup is in his mind.
