Some of the Kolkata Knight Riders players continue to miss Gautam Gambhir, it seems. The defending IPL champions will face Delhi Capitals on Tuesday. Ahead of that, KKR fast bowler Harshit Rana came at the pre-match press conference. He was asked about Gambhir.
“I personally miss the thrill factor,” said Rana. Probed a little further about Gambhir, he said: “He has that aura. I was talking about that.”
Gambhir was the team mentor, as KKR broke their decade-long IPL title drought last season. After that he was roped in by the BCCI as India head coach. KKR replaced him with Dwayne Bravo. Chandrakant Pandit has been the head coach for the last three seasons, while Abhishek Nayar has now returned to join the KKR set-up.
Rana lavished his praise on Nayar. “He knows the Indian core and developed it,” said Rana. “We are getting a lot of help. Chandu sir, Nayar bhai… We are getting the environment we need.”
