I was confident about this series: Rohit Sharma after century versus Australia

Former captain Rohit Sharma produced a brilliantinnings which guided India to a commanding nine-wicket victory over Australia in the third and final ODI in Sydney.

The run-machine was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series. During the postmatch presentation, Rohit reflected said, You’ve got to understand the situation, understand the condition and see what best you can do. And that is what I was trying to do whenever I had the opportunity in the middle. I haven’t played for a long time. I had good prep before coming here. I was slightly confident in my head about how I would go in this tournament.”

The win helped India to avoid a whitewash after losingthe first two matches. Rohit’s innings was a calm yet powerful effort as he scored an undefeated 121 runs off125 balls with 13 boundaries and three maximums. Rohit started the series by making eight in the first match before scoring 73 in the second.

India had entered the match under pressure, after the early loss of new ODI captain Shubman Gill for 24, Rohit and Virat Kohli stabilised the innings. The duo added 168 runs from 170 balls, rotating strike and smashing the loose deliveries with ease. Kohli finished with an unbeaten 74, which perfectly complementedRohit’s brilliant stroke play.

The five-match T20I series between India and Australia will begin in Canberra on October 29. Rohit and Kohli are not part of that side, since they have retired from T20Is.
