The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a big rise in prize money for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. The tournament will be held in India and Sri Lanka, and the prize money on offer is four times higher than before.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said, “This announcement marks a defining milestone in the journey of women’s cricket.”

The total prize money is now $13.88 million, a huge jump from $3.5 million which was offered in 2022. This amount is even more than the $10 million given in the Men’s World Cup two years ago.

The winners of this year’s World Cup will take $4.48 million home, compared to $1.32 million won by Australia in 2022. The runners-up will get $2.24 million, up from $600,000 received by England last time. Both losing semi-finalists will earn $1.12 million each, which is also much higher than the $300,000 previously given.

Every team in the group stage will get $250,000 respectively. For each group-stage win, a team will receive $34,314. Teams who will be finishing on fifth and sixth will get $700,000 each. The teams on seventh and eighth place will receive $280,000 each.

“This four-fold increase in prize money is a landmark moment for women’s cricket and reflects our clear commitment to its long-term growth.” Shah added.“The uplift underscores our ambition to deliver a world-class ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup and to inspire the next generation of players and fans.”

Shah concluded by saying, “Women’s cricket is on a remarkable upward trajectory, and with this step we are confident the momentum will accelerate. We call upon all stakeholders, fans, media, partners, and Member Boards, to join us in championing the women’s game and ensuring it receives the recognition and respect it deserves.”
