IgaSwiatek, the No.1-ranked player in women’s tennis, has announced her decision to part ways with coach Tomasz Wiktorowski after three seasons of collaboration that brought unprecedented success. The 22-year-old Polish tennis star took to Instagram to express her gratitude for the guidance and support that Wiktorowski provided during their time together, marking the end of a chapter that saw her rise to World No. 1 and win four Grand Slam titles.
In her post, Swiatek thanked Wiktorowski for his strategic approach and deep understanding of the game, crediting him for helping her reach the pinnacle of women’s tennis. “After 3 years of the greatest achievements in my career, together with my coach Tomasz Wiktorowski, we decided to part ways,” wrote Swiatek. “I want to start with a big thank you and appreciate our work together.”
Wiktorowski, who previously coached Polish star Agnieszka Radwanska, joined Swiatek’s team in 2021 during a critical phase when she sought a fresh approach to her game. Swiatek acknowledged the importance of Wiktorowski’s analytical mindset and ability to elevate her performance. “His experience, analytical and strategic attitude, and enormous knowledge about tennis helped us to achieve things I’d never dreamed of only a few months after we started working together,” she said. “Our main goal was to become No. 1 player in the world, and coach Wiktorowski was the one who said it first.”
Under his mentorship, Swiatek captured titles at the Frenchand US Opens and solidified her status as a dominant force on the WTA Tour. She lauded their shared determination to compete for victory at every tournament. “Together with coach Wiktorowski, we won many tournaments and 4 Grand Slams,” she said, while also crediting her broader support team, including her fitness coach Maciej Ryszczuk and psychologist Daria Abramowicz.
Swiatek added that Wiktorowski was ready to take a break from the rigours of the tour to spend time with his family, and expressed her best wishes for his future. “Coach, THANK YOU, I wish you all the best,” wrote Swiatek. “I know that you would like to rest after these 3 years of hard work and traveling a lot, and spend some well-deserved time with your loved ones.”
Looking ahead, Swiatek said that she was already in talks with potential new coaches, marking an important step in the next phase of her career. She revealed her intention to explore international options, stating, “I’m in the middle of first talks with coaches from abroad (non-Polish), because I’m ready to take the next step in my career. I will let you know when I make a decision.”
