The India A squad for their upcoming tour of England was announced on 16 May by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). A majority of the emerging players who recently concluded their 2025 IPL league campaign are part of the India A squad.
India A squad: Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Karun Nair, Dhruv Jurel (VC & WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan (WK), Manav Suthar, Tanush Kotian, Mukesh Kumar, Akash Deep, Harshit Rana, Anshul Kamboj, Khaleel Ahmed, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sarfaraz Khan, Tushar Deshpande, and Harsh Dubey.
Notably missing from the squad are newly appointed Team India captain Shubman Gill and his Gujarat Titans (GT) teammate Sai Sudharsan. The two were initially expected to join the squad from the second match, but that will no longer be possible. As reported by RevSportz, both batters will instead join the senior India squad travelling to England on 6 June.
KL Rahul to Join India A Squad
In the absence of experienced players like Gill and Sudharsan, KL Rahul will be a part of the India A squad. His inclusion is a major boost, particularly as the first match ended in a draw.
Batting at No. 3, Karun Nair struck a double-century in the first innings, while Dhruv Jurel impressed with two half-centuries. Other batters—Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, and Nitish Kumar Reddy—also contributed with quick fifties in the second innings.
Reddy and Shardul Thakur, the second seam-bowling all-rounder in the Test squad, bowled 14.5 and 28 overs, respectively, in the Lions game and will be looking to build on those efforts in the second match.
India A will play two first-class matches against the England Lions at Canterbury and Northampton. The second match will conclude on 9 June, followed by a final fixture between India A and the senior India Men’s team.
Team India’s first Test against England is scheduled to begin on 20 June in Leeds.
