Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has shared his views on India’s bowling attack for the upcoming England tour. Ashwin backed Kuldeep Yadav to be included in the playing XI, highlighting his importance in India’s bowling unit across various conditions.

Regardless of the conditions India encounter, Ashwin believes Kuldeep should be part of the side. “When batsmen come through, the best bowling attack will win you matches. If they don’t leave moisture on the pitch, then I think Kuldeep Yadav would be a certainty,” Ashwin said in a conversation with RevSportz. “And if there is moisture on the pitch, then Kuldeep should still be there.”

Kuldeep was injured before the Border–Gavaskar Trophy but is now set to make his comeback. He has played only one Test in England so far, so this tour will be a good opportunity to showcase his skills.

This bowling attack can dismiss any batting line-up in any conditions.” – Ashwin

Ashwin expressed clear faith in Kuldeep’s spin and variation. He also spoke about Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja, saying, “Jasprit Bumrah should be No. 1, alongside Ravindra Jadeja, who offers control and can bat in the top five or six. This bowling attack can dismiss any batting line-up in any conditions. Not to forget [Mohammed] Siraj, who is like a warhorse.”

India is now embarking on a new journey, as senior players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ashwin himself have recently announced their retirement from Test cricket. The team will now be led by a young Shubman Gill, with Rishabh Pant serving as vice-captain in the Test format. Gautam Gambhir will guide this youthful Indian side as head coach during this important transitional phase in Indian cricket.
