Karun Nair played a very important knock and was instrumental in Delhi Capitals’ (DC) win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 66th match of IPL 2025. Batting at number 3, the veteran batter stitched together two important partnerships—first with Sediqullah Atal for 28 runs from 21 balls, and then with Sameer Rizvi for 61 runs from 30 balls. These two partnerships paved the way for DC to defeat PBKS. Karun scored 44 runs off 27 balls at a strike rate of 162.96, including five fours and two sixes.

Earlier in the day, Karun was picked for the England tour, marking his return to the Indian Test team after eight years. He had a fantastic domestic season, scoring 863 runs in nine Ranji Trophy games and 779 runs in eight Vijay Hazare Trophy matches. Karun is the only Indian player after Virender Sehwag to have scored a triple hundred in Test cricket—he made 303 runs against England in 2016 in Chennai.

Karun has played six Test matches for India, scoring 374 runs at an average of 62.33. He has also played two ODIs, scoring 46 runs at an average of 23.

Karun’s reaction on being picked for the Indian squad: “Very grateful to get back into the team. Really happy and proud. Was eagerly waiting for the news and got a lot of messages from my close ones. Have been batting well in the last 12-16 months. It’s about keeping my processes the same and do the same things that have worked for me.”
