Emerging Indian batter Sai Sudharsan is ready to adapt to any role and bat at any position in the playing eleven after earning his maiden Test call-up in India’s 18-member squad for the five-match series in England.

Sudharsan, alongside Arshdeep Singh, is one of the fresh faces in a youthful Indian side led by Shubman Gill. The left-hander’s inclusion comes on the back of strong performances in domestic cricket, county stints, and the current IPL season.

Currently representing Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025, Sudharsan is enjoying a prolific run with the bat at the top of the order, topping the charts with 638 runs so far.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference ahead of GT’s clash with CSK, the 23-year-old was asked if he had a preferred position in the batting order. He responded with humility, stating his willingness to take on any role assigned by the team.

Flexible Sudharsan upbeat for England challenge

“Playing for the country is a huge privilege. I don’t think I’m in a position to choose where I want to play. I’ll go wherever the team and coaches need me. I’ll be mentally and technically ready for the opportunity,” Sudharsan said in the press-conference ahead of GT-CSK clash.

Sudharsan will be in action as GT take on CSK in their final league match at home. After the IPL, he is set to travel to England with Shubman Gill to play the second unofficial Test against the England Lions. The tour begins on 20 June.
