Team India made two changes to the playing XI for the match against Oman in the Asia Cup 2025. At the toss, when Ravi Shastri asked about the team combination, captain Suryakumar Yadav recalled the name of Harshit Rana, who was the first change, but forgot the second change they had made.
“We’ve got Harshit. And the second change… Let me remember. Oh my God! I am becoming like… I’ve become like Rohit Sharma,” Surya said at the toss.
Rohit Sharma is known for forgetting things. On one occasion, he even forgot what the team decided to do after winning the toss. There have been many such instances in the past during his captaincy tenure where Rohit forgot about changes made at the toss.
Coming back to this match, India got off to a poor start, losing vice-captain Shubman Gill early. Then Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson stitched together a partnership that not only provided solidity to the innings but also laid the foundation for a good total. Abhishek was dismissed for a quickfire 38. The southpaw smashed five fours and two sixes in his 15-ball stay at the crease.
Batting at number three, Samson went on to complete his fifty but was dismissed for 56 off 45 balls, including three fours and three sixes, at a strike rate of 124.44. With India experimenting with their batting, other batters failed to play big knocks, and India reached 188/8 in their 20 overs. For Oman, Shah Faisal, Jiten Ramanandi and Aamir Kaleem took two wickets each.
