Ahead of the big-ticket final against India, Pakistan T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha has given his players a free hand to be aggressive on the field.

India dismantled Pakistan in a one-sided affair on 14 September. There were hardly any exchanges on the field during the game. Post-match, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) sparked controversy by making a fuss over India’s no-handshake policy. In the Super Four game, tensions escalated, with altercations between players. Pakistan’s players, in particular, were overly aggressive on the field. Ahead of the third India–Pakistan clash, Salman has made his stance clear: players from both sides are free to be aggressive, provided they do not cross the line.

“If someone wants to be aggressive on the field, then why not? If you deprive a fast bowler of their aggression, then what’s left?” Salman said at the press conference on the eve of the final. “Every player knows how to manage their emotions. I give players the licence to react how they want on the field. As long as they’re not disrespecting anyone and stay within the line, I have no issues with that.”

For the first time in the 41-year history of the Asia Cup, India and Pakistan are set to lock horns in what promises to be a high-intensity clash at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Given the history between these two teams, and what has transpired in this tournament, the final is set to be a blockbuster with the trophy at stake.
