India opener Abhishek Sharma opened up about his on-field altercation with the Pakistan bowlers, which he did not appreciate and which acted as motivation, as the left-handed batter blasted his way to a 39-ball 74, helping his team secure victory.

There were several moments during the match when Abhishek exchanged words with the Pakistani bowlers. In a heated exchange with Haris Rauf, Abhishek and the Pakistan bowler came face to face before on-field umpire Gazi Sohel intervened to separate them.

“Today was pretty simple — the way they were coming at us without any reason, I didn’t like it at all. That’s why I went after them. I wanted to deliver for the team,” Abhishek said after being named Player of the Match.

After posting a challenging total, Pakistan did not start well with the ball. Just as he did in the previous match against Pakistan, Abhishek began the innings with a six.

Along with his partner, Shubman Gill, he launched a fierce attack on the Pakistani bowlers. Shaheen Shah Afridi attempted to rile up Gill, but it backfired. Then Haris Rauf tried similar tactics. Although Gill was eventually dismissed, the damage had already been done, as the opening stand laid the foundation for India’s win.

The Men in Blue lost skipper Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson, but Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya remained unbeaten to ensure India crossed the finish line in 18.4 overs.

Unlike the previous India-Pakistan encounter, the Pakistani players appeared more fired up, unnecessarily provoking the Indian players, and India responded in style.
