KL Rahul finally ended India’s long and frustrating toss-losing streak as India won the toss in the 3rd ODI against South Africa in Visakhapatnam. After losing the toss 20 times in a row since the 2023 World Cup final, India won the toss and captain Rahul’s reaction quickly went viral.
He was seen pumping his fist, and his teammates, including Harshit Rana, were seen celebrating it with Rishabh Pant and Arshdeep Singh. Many others, including support staff, also congratulated him.
At the toss, Rahul shared they were planning to bowl in the second innings because of their toss record and said, “We’ll bowl. We trained here last night and the feedback from the coaches was that there was dew, but it didn’t come in as early as Ranchi and Raipur. We were obviously planning to bowl second, keeping our track record in mind. I don’t think it’sgoing to play such a big part like Raipur and Ranchi. But, we just want to change the total and see how we can bowl first. Yeah, it looks like a good wicket.”
Winning this toss was also important as in the last game dew played a big role in shaping the result, where South Africa chased 359 runs to level the series 1-1.
Rahul said the team is focused on the positives and stated, “There’s a lot of positives to take and I’m really happy with the way we bowled and batted. The chat obviously has been to keep doing the same thing and stay consistent with what we’redoing and stay consistent with that process. We know that the results will follow. Not many things that we’re looking to change. Just trying to sharpen a couple of things in the field and the results will go our way.”
India went with Tilak Varma in place of Washington Sundar in the playing XI.
