Jasprit Bumrah has reached another big milestone in Test cricket. The fast bowler became  the joint-fastest Indian pacer to take 50 Test wickets at home, during the first Test versus the West Indies in Ahmedabad, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

He achieved this record in just 24 innings, which is equal to the record of former India fast bowler Javagal Srinath.

After Bumrah and Srinath, the quickest to reach 50 Test wickets at home are Kapil Dev in 25 innings,  Ishant Sharma in 27 innings and Mohammed Shami in 27 innings.  This shows how rare and special this record is for any Indian fast bowler.

On the first day of the match, Bumrah bowled brilliantly. He took three wickets for 42 runs in 14 overs. Mohammed Siraj also bowled well, taking four wickets for 40 runs. Kuldeep Yadav also got two wickets and Washington Sundar managed to get one. Because of India’s strong bowling, West Indies were bowled out for only 162 runs in 44.1 overs in their first innings.

India will be looking to take a strong lead and put themselves in pole position.
