India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal joined a list of Indian players who recorded the highest individual scores that ended in a run-out. This occurred when he was run out on day two against the West Indies in the second Test of the ongoing series in Delhi.
Former cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar tops the list with a score of 218 against Pakistan in 1989. Former India captain Rahul Dravid’s 217 against England in 2002 and 180 against Australia in 2001 occupy the second and third spots respectively. Jaiswal’s innings of 175 is in fourth place. Vijay Hazare’s 155 against England in 1951 is in fifth position.
The Indian opener remained unbeaten on 173 at the end of day one, and there were high expectations of a massive score. He faced five deliveries on day two and managed to add only two runs before being run out.
The left-hander received a full-length delivery and drove it to mid-off, immediately setting off for a single. However, captain Shubman Gill, who was at the non-striker’s end, turned around to see where the ball had gone and declined the run. As Jaiswal attempted to return to the crease, it was too late. Tagenarine Chanderpaul threw the ball to wicketkeeper Tevin Imlach, who completed the run-out with ease.
