The BCCI Women has announced that India’s women’s cricket team will don special pink jerseys for the third and final ODI against Australia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. With the series tied 1-1, the match on September 20 is already a high-stakes decider, but now it also carries a bigger purpose—spreading awareness about breast cancer.
BCCI Women made the announcement on social media with the caption: “Thanks a Dot! #TeamIndia will be wearing special pink-coloured jerseys in the Third ODI today to promote Breast Cancer Awareness.”
The post included a video featuring captain Harmanpreet Kaur, opener Pratika Rawal, and all-rounder Sneh Rana. In the clip, the players delivered a strong message about the cause behind the initiative:
“This pink jersey is the reminder of a bigger fight. This pink jersey is more than just a symbol. Every day we train for uncertainties and this pink jersey is a reminder for you to be prepared and the strength for this fight against Breast Cancer comes from early detection. It’s a call to build a life-saving habit. Let’s make breast self-examination a monthly routine. Together, let’s fight against Breast Cancer and give ourselves a hug of life and practice a life-saving skill and take a stand against Breast Cancer.”
As part of the campaign, with 50 dot balls in the match, 200 women will receive “Thanks a Dot” kits and breast self-exam guidance. Breast cancer continues to be a major health issue in India, with awareness campaigns like this aiming to encourage more women to adopt preventive self-check practices.
