England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones has reached a special milestone in her career, becoming the eighth English woman to score 2,500 runs in One-Day Internationals. She achieved this milestone during the ongoing 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup match against India at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore on Sunday, 19 October. The England opener reached this mark with her very first run of the match.
With this achievement, the 32-year-old has now joined some of England’s star women cricketers such as Charlotte Edwards, Tammy Beaumont, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Claire Taylor, Sarah Taylor, Heather Knight, and Lydia Greenway. Jones reached the milestone in her 108th ODI match, having played 91 innings so far.
Jones has been very consistent, with an average of 32 and a strike rate of around 85. She has also smashed two centuries and 14 half-centuries in her ODI career so far, making her an important part of England’s batting line-up.
In the ongoing World Cup, Jones started well with an unbeaten 40 runs against South Africa in Guwahati, which helped her team to win comfortably. However, her form dipped in the following matches. The right-handed batter scored just one run against Bangladesh and 11 runs against Sri Lanka. Jones only managed to score eight runs against Pakistan, where the match was abandoned due to rain.
Currently, England sits third on the points table with seven points. India, on the other hand, is in fourth position and is looking for a comeback after two consecutive defeats.
