Australia A ended Day 1 in a commanding position against India A in the unofficial Test being played in Lucknow. The real disappointment for India came from their pace attack led by Prasidh Krishna.
His rhythm was rusty and he leaked runs at a high economy rate. His poor form released the pressure built by other bowlers. Krishna finished the day leaking 47 runs in his 11 overs without taking a single wicket.
For India A, the think tank and skipper Shreyas Iyer, Krishna’s form will be a concern as he was expected to spearhead the attack, being one of the experienced players in the team having recently represented India in Test matches. Krishna took 14 wickets in three matches in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England but he had an alarming economy rate of 4.94 there.
Openers Sam Konstas and Campbell Kellaway gave the visitors a fantastic start, stitching together a partnership of 198 runs. After that, Cooper Connolly and Liam Scott put together 109 runs which laid the foundation for Australia A to put on a big total on board.
Konstas scored a brilliant ton but was dismissed on 109 by Harsh Dubey. Kellaway was the second-highest run-scorer of the day for Australia A as he got 88 runs. For India A, Dubey took 3/88 in his 21 overs.
