In a historic move for Indian tennis, the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA) has officially bid to host the Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs in Bengaluru. If successful, it would mark the first time ever that the prestigious Playoffs are held on Indian soil.

India recently qualified for the Playoffs for just the second time in its history, following a spirited performance in the Asia/Oceania Group I ties held in Pune. The Playoffs, scheduled for the week commencing 10 November 2025, will feature 21 nations split into seven groups of three teams each. In a unique format, every group tie will be hosted by a nation.

The final decision on host venues will be made following a draw set to take place in June. With India among the qualified teams and Bengaluru already renowned for its sporting infrastructure, KSLTA’s bid strengthens hopes of a home advantage for the national team.

Hosting the Playoffs would not only elevate India’s profile in global women’s tennis but also offer invaluable exposure to young players and fans across the country. The buzz around Indian tennis continues to grow, and a home Playoff tie could be a major catalyst in the sport’s grassroots development.

All eyes now turn to June’s draw, as India waits to find out whether its dream of hosting Billie Jean King Cup Playoffs will turn into a moment of national pride.
