With around 15,000 people in attendance at Kotla on Sunday, the West Indies batting line-up crumbled once again as India enforced the follow-on. The batters were undone by the spin duo Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. The left-arm wrist-spinner took 3 wickets in the first session, which contributed to India securing a 270-run first innings lead when the West Indies were asked to bat again.

Kuldeep removed Sai Hope, Tevin Imlach and Justin Greaves as a collapse ensued. There was a moment of resistance from from Khary Pierre and Anderson Phillip, and right before lunch, the two batters stitched a 9th wicket partnership of 46 runs. The partnership took West Indies over 200.

After the follow-on, Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah searched for a wicket but could not find an early breakthrough until Shubman Gill took a brilliant catch to dismiss Tagenarine Chanderpaul off Siraj’s delivery. The fans did their best to entertain themselves in the midst of a fairly uneventful Day 3. Chants of “DSP…DSP” filled the air as the crowd tried to encourage the much loved pace sensation. Tea was called as Alick Athanaze was bowled by Washington Sundar.

West Indies have scored 35 runs at the loss of two wickets so far and they are trailing by 235 runs.
