
India concluded their campaign at the ISSF World Cup in Munich with two gold and two bronze medals. They finished third in the standings. China topped the table with seven medals, while Norway secured second place with four (two gold, one silver, one bronze).
The highlight of India’s campaign was the stellar performance of rising pistol shooter Suruchi Singh Inder, who clinched gold in women’s 10m air pistol. This was the 19-year-old’s third gold of the year. Competing at one of the most competitive World Cups of the year, Suruchi scored an impressive 588, finishing second in the qualification round. She rose to the occasion in a tense final, delivering under pressure and scoring 241.9 to edge out seasoned and top-ranked shooters.
India’s 10m air rifle mixed team duo, Arjun Babuta and Arya Borse, clinched the gold medal with a dominant performance against a Chinese pair. In the qualification round, Sheng Lihao and Wang Zifei had topped the charts with a score of 635.9, while the Indians finished a close second with 635.2. The Indian pair outclassed the Chinese with a commanding 17-7 victory in the gold medal match.
Two-time Olympian Elavenil Valarivan clinched bronze medal in women’s 10m air rifle. She created a national record in the qualification round with a score of 635.9, finishing second behind China’s Wang Zifei, who shattered the world record with an astonishing 637.9. In the finals, Elavenil led until the 20th shot, but a costly 9.8 on the 21st saw her slip to third.

Sift Kaur Samra secured bronze medal in women’s 50m rifle 3 positions with a final score of 453.1. Earlier, she had shot 592 (29x) in qualification, finishing just behind France’s Agathe Cecile Camille Girard, who topped with 592 (34x). This is Sift’s second ISSF World Cup medal of 2025, having already clinched gold in Buenos Aires.
Double Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker returned empty handed. In the women’s 25m pistol event, Manu finished fifth in qualification and advanced to the final, where she ended up in sixth place. In 10m air pistol, she finished a disappointing 25th with a score of 574.
In the 10m air pistol mixed team event, Manu partnered with Aditya Malra. The duo scored 577 and finished sixth in the qualification round, missing out on a place in the medal round. Another Indian pair, Varun Tomar and Suruchi Singh, scored 576 to finish 10th.
Paris Olympics medallist, Swapnil Kusale also struggled in Munich. He finished a lowly 38th in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event and failed to qualify for the final. Chain Singh made it to the finals but finished seventh with a score of 407.0.
