India’s KL Rahul, all set to lead the ODI side in the upcoming three-match series against South Africa, will continue as the ‘keeper-batter, a role he successfully performed in the ODI World Cup 2023 and Asia Cup 2023. Beyond limited-overs cricket, Rahul expressed his willingness to keep wickets in Test matches.

Embracing versatility, he stated, “I have always been open to doing new roles and accepting whatever role the team wants me to perform. If that’s the role the management sees me during Test matches, happy to do that.”

Before the Asia Cup 2023, Rahul faced a setback due to a hamstring injury in IPL 2023, followed by surgery, causing him to miss team India’s outings. Incidentally, with Rishabh Pant’s unavailability, Rahul has solidified his position as the full-time limited overs ‘keeper.

Eager to capitalize on every opportunity, he expressed his determination, stating, “I want to play as many games as possible for the country. I have missed a lot of games because of injuries, and I would like to make the most of time and play as many games as possible and perform whatever role is expected of me.”
