With only a day remaining for the big Super 8 encounter between India and Afghanistan in the ICC T20 World Cup at the Kensington Oval, the Men In Blues’ second practice session was full throttle on Tuesday. All the players were there at practice except for southpaw Rishabh Pant. Like in the first session, Virat Kohli was seen taking plenty of throwdowns from specialist Nuwan Seneviratne. It was an intense session for Kohli once again, though not as long. He batted for a good 30 to 35 minutes to gauge and understand what the conditions would be like.
Suryakumar Yadav was seen batting at nets for a considerable amount of time, facing local spinners. The match-day wicket might offer something more for the spinners, which could be the reason why Surya was focusing on playing spin. Known for his proficiency against spin, Surya might be India’s best chance to counter-attack the Afghanistan tweakers if needed, batting at number four.

Captain Rohit Sharma was seen facing bowlers like Arshdeep Singh, Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravindra Jadeja. Although Rohit appeared a bit uncertain on the wicket with a few play and miss, the Indian team remains hopeful that he can score big against Afghanistan. The skipper was also seen practicing unorthodox cricketing shots such as reverse sweeps, suggesting that he might innovate with his batting in the next innings.
There has been chatter about the weather in Barbados. A passing shower during the practice session suggested that rain could be a possibility. However, the forecast for match day is favourable, with no rain expected. That is good news for cricket fans all over the world after what one saw in Florida, USA. After the brief delay due to rain, Sanju Samson and Hardik Pandya were seen batting, while Jadeja also came in later to hit the white ball. Jasprit Bumrah was seen running hard and bowling for an extended period after Arshdeep Singh, indicating his readiness for the crucial Super 8 match against Afghanistan.
