The 2024-25 Indian Super League (ISL) season begins on Friday, September 13, 2024. The opening match will feature a clash between defending League Winners Mohun Bagan Super Giant and ISL 2023-24 Cup winners Mumbai City FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, a rematch of last season’s final.

The first weekend also includes Chennaiyin FC visiting Odisha FC, and Bengaluru FC facing East Bengal FC in the season’s first double-header on Saturday, September 14, with matches starting at 5:00 PM IST and 7:30 PM IST respectively. Kerala Blasters FC will host Punjab FC on Sunday, September 15 at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. Hyderabad FC’s first game, an away match against Bengaluru FC, is set for September 19, subject to AIFF Club Licensing clearance.

This ISL season features 13 teams, with Mohammedan Sporting Club joining after winning the I-League. The newly promoted team will begin their campaign against NorthEast United FC at their home ground, Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata, on Monday, September 16.

With Mohammedan Sporting Club now in the mix, the Indian Super League will see three of Kolkata’s most historic football clubs—Mohun Bagan Super Giant, East Bengal FC, and Mohammedan Sporting Club—competing for the title. The inclusion of these clubs heightens fan excitement, especially with six high-stakes Kolkata derbies scheduled for the season. The first two derbies will take place in October: Mohun Bagan Super Giant vs. Mohammedan FC on Saturday, October 5, and East Bengal FC vs. Mohun Bagan Super Giant on Saturday, October 19.
