India’s Blind Women Create History With First-Ever T20 World Cup Triumph

Indian blind women’s cricket team scripted history by winning the inaugural T20 Blind Women’s World Cup. The Women in Blue defeated Nepal by seven wickets in the final in Colombo on Sunday.

In the showdown encounter at the iconic P Sara Oval in Colombo, India opted to bowl first and quickly took control of the game. Nepal struggled to score due to India’s tight fielding and shrewd bowling. Nepal managed to post a modest total of 114 runs for five wickets in their 20 overs but could manage only one boundary in their innings, highlighting India’s disciplined effort on the field.

India chased the target without any fuss with Phula Saren’s being the top scorer with 44 runs to her name. India chased the target in only 12 overs, finishing at 117 runs for three wickets.

India reached semi-finals by defeating Australia in the first semifinal. Nepal on the other hand reached the summit clash by Nepal beating Pakistan on Saturday. Co-hosts Sri Lanka only secured one win and that too against USA, from their five preliminary match in the league stage.

Mehreen Ali was the brightest talent in the tournament. The Pakistan B3 (partially sighted) batter, showcased a record-breaking performances, where she scored more than 600 runs, which includes 230 runs off 78 balls against Sri Lanka and also raked up 133 runs against Australia.
