The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has created huge excitement in India. Tickets for two India matches – against Australia in Visakhapatnam on October 12, and England in Indore on October 19 – are already sold out. The overwhelming response from the fans shows that they are connecting with women’s cricket, making this World Cup one of the most followed sporting events of the year.
ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta said the response from fans had exceeded expectations. “We saw this World Cup as an opportunity to deepen the connection between fans and the women’s game,” said Gupta. He explained that they kept prices of the tickets as low as ₹100, making the matches more accessible to everyone.
Gupta added that the response showed the growing popularity of women’s cricket. “The turnout in Guwahati and the early sell-outs in Indore and Vizag show how far the women’s game has come, and how much further it can go.”
More than 22,000 fans attended India’s opening match in Guwahati against Sri Lanka, which is the highest-ever crowd for a group-stage game in an ICC Women’s event. Before this, the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup game in Dubai between India and Pakistan had the highest number of spectators.
India’s upcoming matches in Navi Mumbai are nearly sold out as well, with 90% of tickets gone for the clash against New Zealand on October 23, and 82% sold for the Bangladesh match on October 26.
India have started their World Cup campaign well, winning both of their opening matches. They are currently facing South Africa in Visakhapatnam.
